Einstein was working on the Static Universe Model. He brought in a cosmological constant, lambda, to balance his equations. Then he found out that the Universe was expanding. He admitted he had committed a blunder ! That is why some scientists rate Laplace as the greatest, as he shone in both Astronomy and Mathematics !
