Since India is short of Hotel Rooms, Home Stays have sprung up !

India had a poor Marketimg Image in the Nehruvian or Congressian Era. Tourism was considered to be a monopoly of the rich and it had nothing to do with Koran ( poor man ). So Tourism was neglected, as was Agri and human resources !

Now due to the surge in Tourist Traffic, there is a dearth of class hotel rooms and many homestays have into being.
