His father, Ravi Krishnamurthy, a software architect, moved to New Zealand in 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a massive rumour when Ravindra entered the international scene that his name was a mix of Indian cricket legends Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. While his father acknowledged the coincidence, he clarified that the name was chosen simply because it sounded pleasant and was easy to spell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen Rachin was born, my wife suggested the name, and we didn\u2019t spend a lot of time discussing it. The name sounded good, was easy to spell, and short, so we decided to go with it. It was only some years later that we realised the name was a mix of Rahul and Sachin\u2019s names.
