The metre he used in his composition was  but the most beautiful  Thotaka.\n\n\n\nThis  eightfold verse voice the extreme loyalty and devotion he had for his\nMaster. There is nothing superior to the Guru, none greater than Him. Guru is the destroyer of Ignorance and on the Grace of the Grace rests the\nfulfillment of the  dream of Self Actualisation !\n\n\n\nHis devotion is best expressed in the soul moving note of this magnificent\nsong , Be Thou my Refuge, O Master Divine !\n\n\n\nvidit\u00e1khila\u00f9\u00e1strasudh\u00e1jaladhe\nmahitopanisatkathit\u00e1rthanidhe\nh\u00f8daye kalaye vimalam cara\u00efam\nbhava \u00f9a\u00f1kara de\u00f9ika me \u00f9aranam.(1)\n\n \n\n\nO Knower of the Milk Ocean of Sciences philosophic\nProponent of the mighty Upanishads\nMy heart yearns for Thy faultless feet\nBe Thou my Refuge, O Master Divine\n\nkaru\u00ef\u00e1varunalaya p\u00e1laya m\u00e1m\nbhavas\u00e1garadu\u00e7khavid\u00fcnah\u00f8dam\nracay\u00e1khiladar\u00f9anattattuavidam\nbhava \u00f9a\u00f1kara de\u00f9ika me \u00f9ara\u00efam.(2)\n\nThou art the Ocean of Compassion\nThis misery afflicted me redeem\nImpart the quintessence of the Sciences\nBe Thou my Refuge, O Master Divine\n\nbhavat\u00e1 janat\u00e1 suhit\u00e1 bhavit\u00e1\nnijabodhavic\u00e1rana c\u00e1rumate\nkalaye\u00f9varajivavivekavidam\nbhava \u00f9a\u00f1kara de\u00f9ika me \u00f9aranam.(3)\n\nMasses are blissful because of Thee\nThou are blessed with Self Knowledge\nWith a noble intellect divine\nBestow the knowledge of the Eternal Triad\nOf  Universe, Self  and Supreme\nBe Thou my Refuge, O Master Divine\n\n\nbhava eva bhav\u00e1niti me nitar\u00e1m\nsamaj\u00e1yata cetasi kautukit\u00e1\nmama v\u00e1raya mohamah\u00e1jaladhim\nbhava \u00f9a\u00efkara desika me \u00f9ara\u00efam.(4)\n\n\n\nThou art Divinity visible\nBliss overwhelming overpowers me\nSave me from this Ocean of Delusion\nBe Thou my Refuge, O Master Divine\n\nsuk\u00f8te' dhik\u00f8te bahudh\u00e1 bhavato\nbhavit\u00e1 samadarsanalalasata\natidinamimam parip\u00e1laya m\u00e1m\nbhava \u00f9a\u00efkara de\u00f9ika me \u00f9ara\u00efam.(5)\n\n\nOnly when virtuous deeds are performed\nWill the desire of Liberation spring in mind !\nSave this misery afflicted disciple of yours\nBe Thou my Refuge, O Master Divine\n\njagatimavitum kalit\u00e1k\u00f8tayo\nvicaranti mahamahasa\u00f9chalatah\nabhim\u00e1msurivatra vibh\u00e1si guro\nbhava \u00f9a\u00f1kara de\u00f9ika me \u00f9ara\u00efam.(6)\n\n\nThe great who come to save this suffering world Assume various forms disguise ! Heaven's treasures they bring, their sufferings count their pain And they pay the gifts of Knowledge with their lives!
