\nTwo Magnificent Tributes<\/p>\n

Changanpuzha’s tribute to Kalidasa reminded one of the magnificent tribute
\nto Dante by Longfellow.<\/p>\n

I enter, I see thee in the gloom,
\nOF the long aisles, O Poet Saturnine !<\/p>\n

( Saturn, the Melancholy Planet,
\nWas rising at Dante’s Nativity )<\/p>\n

Thy Sacred Song is like the Trump of Doom,
\nAnd in thy bosom what human sympathies,
\nWhat soft compassion glows; as in the skies,
\nThe tender stars with their shaded lamps relume.<\/p>\n

With snow white veil and garments of flame,
\nShe ( Beatrice ) stands beforee thee who not long ago,
\nFilled thy young\u00a0 heart with the passion and the woe,
\nFrom which thy Song and and all its splendors came !<\/p>\n

I wake amaze and in the windows bright,
\nShine the forms of holy who died,
\nHereafter martyred,
\nAnd hereafter crucified.<\/p>\n

And the Great Rose upon its leaves displays,
\nLove’s triumph and the angellc roundelays,
\nWith splendor upon splendor multiplied,
\nAnd Beatrice again at Dante’s side !<\/p>\n

O star of Morning and Liberty,
\nO Bringer of the Light, whose splendor
\nShines above darkness of Alps,
\nForerunner of the day that is to be !<\/p>\n

About Kalidasa, the Poet Laureate of Kerala wrote,<\/p>\n

Centuries may have come and gone,
\nAfter thy rise in the Orient,
\nBut in the eternal horizon of Universal Memory,
\nThou art the star which changeth not !<\/p>\n

O intellectual great ! Thou lit a Coral Light,
\nIn the bosom of universal culture !
\nInto that Silver Light of Poetry,
\nHuman intellects are magnetically drawn !<\/strong><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
In the holiest of holy lands,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Wherein the Geetha is dissolved,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Any Poetry which sprouts,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Will come to sacred fruition.<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Unlike clouds that disappear<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Love alters not nor wanes<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Thou madest such clouds sIng Love ETERNAL
\nIn Thy noble poem, Megha Sandesa !<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
Thou taught Justice and Rghteousness,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Though the Greatest Exemplar, Lord Rama,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
One of the greatest Exemplars,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Lord proved that Dharma is all in all!<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
Thou made the Divine Mother<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Shine eternally like the Eternal lover !<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Pining eternally for Her Beloved,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
In mighty Kumara Sambhava<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
Thy statue worshipping Lord Shiva<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Became one of the greatest\u00a0 ever<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
In World Sculpture,the classic Immortal Lover,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Pining for Purusha, Her Lord.<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
Thou made a statement grand.<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
That\u00a0\u00a0that the \u00a0body comes first\u00a0,before all.<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Without Body, no Self Actualisation,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Sareeram Adyam Khalu Dharma Sadhanam !<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
Thou defined Self as Universe pervading<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Ya Sthita Vyapya Viswam ………<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
Thou defined HIm as Atheist greatest,<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
As to Him, there is no principle higher !<\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n
