 \r\n\r\nTwo Magnificent Tributes\r\n\r\nChanganpuzha's tribute to Kalidasa reminded one of the magnificent tribute\r\nto Dante by Longfellow.\r\n\r\nI enter, I see thee in the gloom,\r\n+++OF the long aisles, O Poet Saturnine !\r\n\r\n( Saturn, the Melancholy Planet,\r\n  Was rising at Dante's Nativity )\r\n\r\n++++++Thy Sacred Song is like the Trump of Doom,\r\n+++++++++And in thy bosom what human sympathies,\r\nWhat soft compassion glows; as in the skies,\r\nThe tender stars with their shaded lamps relume.\r\n\r\nWith snow white veil and garments of flame,\r\nShe ( Beatrice ) stands beforee thee who not long ago,\r\nFilled thy young  heart with the passion and the woe,\r\nFrom which thy Song and and all its splendors came !\r\n\r\nI wake amaze and in the windows bright,\r\nShine the forms of holy who died,\r\nHereafter martyred,\r\nAnd hereafter crucified.\r\n\r\nAnd the Great Rose upon its leaves displays,\r\nLove's triumph and the angellc roundelays,\r\nWith splendor upon splendor multiplied,\r\nAnd Beatrice again at Dante's side !\r\n\r\nO star of Morning and Liberty,\r\nO Bringer of the Light, whose splendor\r\nShines above darkness of Alps,\r\nForerunner of the day that is to be !\r\n\r\nAbout Kalidasa, the Poet Laureate of Kerala wrote,\r\n\r\nCenturies may have come and gone,\r\nAfter thy rise in the Orient,\r\nBut in the eternal horizon of Universal Memory,\r\nThou art the star which changeth not !\r\n\r\nO intellectual great ! Thou lit a Coral Light,\r\nIn the bosom of universal culture !\r\nInto that Silver Light of Poetry,\r\nHuman intellects are magnetically drawn !\r\n \r\nIn the holiest of holy lands,\r\nWherein the Geetha is dissolved,\r\nAny Poetry which sprouts,\r\nWill come to sacred fruition.\r\n \r\nUnlike clouds that disappear\r\nLove alters not nor wanes\r\nThou madest such clouds sIng Love ETERNAL\r\nIn Thy noble poem, Megha Sandesa !\r\n \r\nThou taught Justice and Rghteousness,\r\nThough the Greatest Exemplar, Lord Rama,\r\nOne of the greatest Exemplars,\r\nLord proved that Dharma is all in all!\r\n \r\nThou made the Divine Mother\r\nShine eternally like the Eternal lover !\r\nPining eternally for Her Beloved,\r\nIn mighty Kumara Sambhava\r\n \r\nThy statue worshipping Lord Shiva\r\nBecame one of the greatest  ever\r\nIn World Sculpture,the classic Immortal Lover,\r\nPining for Purusha, Her Lord.\r\n \r\nThou made a statement grand.\r\nThat  that the  body comes first ,before all.\r\nWithout Body, no Self Actualisation,\r\nSareeram Adyam Khalu Dharma Sadhanam !\r\n \r\nThou defined Self as Universe pervading\r\nYa Sthita Vyapya Viswam .........\r\nThou defined HIm as Atheist greatest,\r\nAs to Him, there is no principle higher !\r\n \r\n( jagadeeso Nireeswarah ! )<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
