Of the fair damsel Valli
Commander in Chief
Of the Celestial Army
Friend of the oppresseed, merciful,
Son of the Lord of Parvathi
Whose feet divine is worshipped
By Lakshmi and all celestials !

Devendra vandhya mrudu pankaja manju pada,

Chapa thi sasthra parimanditha divya panai,

Holder of Thrisul
Bow and arrows
In Thy Hands divine
Wearer of ear rings
Rider on the Peacock

Sooram nihathya sura kotibhiradyamana,

Panchaksharadhi manu manthritha Ganga thoyai,
Panchamruthai praudhithendra mukhair muneendryai,
Pattabhishiktha maghavatha nayasa nadha,

Subrahmanyashtakam idham prathar uthaya ya padeth,
Kodi janma krutham papam thath kshanad thasya nasyathi.
