Dilip Vengsarkar feels that Indian cricketers are mentally tired after IPL II. He is of the opinion that they deserve rest. He says that Gary Kirsten, the Indian coach now faces a great challenge in reorganising his team in a short period of time for the World Cup. The IPL format should be changed, he says, to avoid such problems in the future. Zaheer Khan, the Indian strike bowler is recovering from a shoulder injury which he suffered while playing the IPL. Sachin and Kirsten also endorse Vensarkar’s view.

The opening pair of Sehwag and Gambhir already showed signs of fatigue in IPL itself. “There is the possibility of a cricket overkill in India’ says Vengsarkar, if the players are not give adequate rest.

Other experts feel that Indian cricketers are in good nick, as they were in fine form in the IPL. They will get one week of rest and that is enough for the World Cup tussle, which begins on June 5 in England.

The dark horse of the tournament may well be Pakistan. Pak is fit and raring to go, according to their coach I Alam.

Other experts point out that IPL has improved the skills of Indian cricketers giving them more experience. The pressure situations will be handled well by the Indians, as they are now habituated to pressure situations. They have been well schooled by adversity and the pressure situations of IPL II, which has made them well experienced.

So we are having a thesis and anti-thesis, regarding India in the World Cup in England. Time will prove who is right !

This Indian team looks powerful allright, but Time alone can tell !
