Ashtapadi IV - Chandana Charchita - Ode to the Lord
The companion of Radha,
Tells the Lord's beloved,
About the Gopis,
Who flirt with Him.
How He delightfully embraces,
And dances with Gopis, of Nature,
Gopis, symbolic of Upanishads
( The Breath of the Eternal ! )
And Radha representing Nature !
His body bluish,
Is smeared with paste,
Paste made of sandalwood,
Yellow silk robe He wears.
His ear rings dangling,
As he plays with Gopis,
Sporting as He is,
In the Garden of the Upanishads !
O Radha, hear,
How a Gopi is singing,
In high pitch,
In tune with Krishna's flute !
Radha, see,
How a Gopi is ensnaring,
Beauteous Lord Krishna,
With gestures of love !
Cupid had marked her
For his own !
She is mesmerised
By the handsomeness of the Lord !
She is meditating
On His Lotus like Beauty !
Why does He love
The Upanishads so much ?
See how close a Gopi is,
How proximate to the Lord !
She is about to tell,
A secret privately !
Thrilled she is,
By the touch of His cheeks !
His handsome mien,
Attracts her entire !
See how that maid yonder,
Pulls his silk robe yellowish,
See the yonder cottage,
Under beautiful bower.
By the side of Yamuna,
See how deeply in love,
That young maid is,
Pining for the handsome Lord !
O beloved Radha,
One maid is enjoying Rasa Dance,
Divine Dance of Rssas,
Clapping in ecstasy !
The melodious music,
Emanating from the Lord's flute,
Is in tune with the sound of bangles,
Rhythmic sound of her bangles !
Other Gopis He kisses,
While many are delighted,
By His Presence !
Also formidable Nature !
Upanishads love the Self,
They deal with the Self,
The Science of the Absolute,
Observe His gracious smile
Poet Jaya Deva sings,
About the secrets,
Of joyful sportsecstatic,
Of the handsome Lord
With the Gopis,
Let this poem divine,
Grant Bliss and happiness,
