Ashtapadi XXIII - kisalaya Sayana - Ode to the Lord

Companions of Radha
Left her in cottage
Radha is engrossed in love
Love for her Lord

Krishna was gazing
At the bed of leaves
He spoke to her
With supreme affection

O beauteous Radha
Put thy lotus feet

Softer than leaves tender
On this lovely bed !
Please follow me
For some time !

Allow me to comfort
Thy lovely feet !
You have come a long way
Like me your anklets
Are always with thee

As beautiful as Luna
Is thy handsome face !
Thy words are sweet
Like nectar from Moon
Permit me to see thee
Steadily and whole !

Excited art thou
To embrace Me
Let the fire of Cupid
Burn in our hearts
Let our bodies commingle
And become united !
After all our Union
Of Purusha and Prakriti
Generated the Cosmos !

This is Kamukee Kamuka Bhava

Bhava of Beloved and Lover
Between Purusha and Prakriti
Symbolised in Song !
O lovely Radha, confer upon Me
The nectar of thy kiss !
My body burns
With fire of Love
Keep me alive for ever
With thy eternal love

Like Luna in his waxing
Is thy face beauteous
Let bells on thy waist
Ring with thy voice melodious
Sound of cuckoo birds
Torment my ears
Pacify me, dearest !

Thou art closing thine eyes
In anger at my inertia
Be cheerful, beloved
I am with thee for ever !

The romantic nature
Of Lord Krishna
Is highlighted in this poem
By the poet Jayadeva
May devotees divine
Enjoy sweetness of Love
Love, Bliss, Ananda
For ever and ever !
