Ashtapadi XV - Sakhee Ya Ramita - Ode to the Lord

The handsome Lord
Is beloved to many
The lovely Gopis
Yearn for Him !
I may have no other go
But to commit suicide
If He ignores me !

sakhi yA ramitA vanamAlinA ||sakhee||

His eyes beauteous
Like Lotus flowers
A damsel lying
On a bed of tender leaves
With the celestial Lord
Suffers not !
.

vikasita sarasija lalita mukhEna
sphuTati na sA manasija viSikhEna||sakhee||

Like the blossomed lotus
His face is so charming !
Heart of a damsel
Loved the Lord
Which cannot be broken
By the arrows of Cupid !

amruta madhura mrudutara vachanEna

Like nectar is the talk
Of the beauteous Lord
Even fragrant breeze
Cannot cause the pangs
Of separation painfrul
From the Lord !

sthalajalaruha ruchikara charaNEna
luThati na sA himakara kiraNEna||sakhee ||

As lovely as lotus flowers
Are His feet
Rays of the Moon troubles not
The Cupid intoxicated maid
Who enjoys the love of the Lord !

C 5sajala jalada samudAya ruchirENa
daLati na sA hrudi viraha bharENa||sakhee |

Like water bearing clouds
He shines gloriously !

The clouds beautiful
Affects not the heart
Of the one who enjoys
His Blissful Presence !

C 6kanaka nikasha ruchi Suchi vasanEna
Svasiti na sA parijana hasanEna||sakhee ||

See how His yellow robe
Shines like gold !
One who enjoys His love
Will never be depressed
When teased by friends !

C 7sakala bhuvana janavara taruNEna
vahati na sA ruja matikaruNEna||sakhee ||

See the Handsomest One
In all the worlds triune
The pangs of separation
Affects not the devotee
Bhakti is a state
Where there is no Vibhakti
Non separation from Self
Separation from Self
Is Ignorance called
Separation from Self
Is Death called !
Separate from Self
And be miserable
Unite with Self
And be happy !

This moving poem
Written by Jayadeva
Delights the hearts
Of the devotees
Of Purusha and Prakriti
Of Being and Nature
Let them be glorified
Both Purusha and Prakriti !
